L&E Court Rejects Tallwoods Manufactured Homes Estate

 

The Land & Environment Court has rejected the appeal and refused the Development Application for 303 Blackhead Rd, Tallwoods Village. Mid-Coast Council had rejected the proposal twice, and the Tallwoods 303 Action Group swung in behind Council to add the residents’ voice of objection.

 

At no stage did the developers attempt to establish a social contract with the residents who would have been impacted by the proposal. In an exceptionally detailed ruling, L&E Commissioner Walsh ruled against the plans on environmental, community and “local fit” issues. Council’s legal team believe there is no room for further appeal.

The local community came together to make their voice heard against this development. The decision is proof that “people power” exists, and can be a real force in local government.
